How to connect Meta (Facebook) Ads
Last reviewed October 22, 2026
Connect Meta so you can sync DataMoon audiences to your ad accounts as Custom Audiences.
Before you begin
A working Meta connection needs all four of these. If any one is missing, audiences will fail when they sync.
- The ad account belongs to a Meta Business portfolio. Personal ad accounts can't receive Custom Audiences.
- You sign in to Meta with a profile assigned to that ad account as a Person (not only through a Partner business).
- That profile has admin access or "Manage campaigns" permission on every ad account you want to sync to.
- The Custom Audience Terms and Meta Business Tools Terms are accepted for each ad account.
Steps
- In DataMoon, go to Settings → Integrations.
- Select Meta and click Connect.
- Sign in to Meta with your business-linked profile when the popup opens. If no popup appears, allow popups for the DataMoon site and try again.
- Select the ad account before you finish. Skipping this is the most common reason a connection doesn't work.
- Complete the authorization.
Once connected, Meta is available as a destination when you sync an audience.
Important notes
- Standard logins expire. A standard Meta login token needs reconnecting about every 60 days. A Meta system user token doesn't expire; see the connector guide below or ask us for the setup guide.
- Reconnecting? Reconnect the existing connection. Don't create a new destination; that leaves your audiences pointed at the old one.
