Using phone numbers for calls and texts
Last reviewed October 22, 2026
Phone outreach has the strictest rules of any channel. Follow these steps before calling or texting DataMoon contacts.
Before you call or text
- Verify the numbers with a third-party phone verification service.
- Scrub against Do Not Call registries, federal and state.
- Make sure you have proper consent under the TCPA for telemarketing calls and texts.
- Register your texting campaigns (A2P 10DLC) with your texting provider before sending.
Why texting tools mark so many numbers "invalid"
If a texting platform (such as GoHighLevel through Twilio) reports a high share of numbers as invalid, the cause is often carrier filtering, not bad numbers:
- Unregistered campaigns get blocked. Carriers such as T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon filter texts from campaigns without A2P 10DLC registration, or with spam-like content or high volume.
- Blocked messages can be reported as "invalid" even when the number exists and belongs to a real person.
- Landlines can't receive texts, and DataMoon doesn't confirm line type.
Register your campaign and verify numbers before judging data quality from texting results.
